It's no secret that LeBron James is having issues with the LeBron 11, specifically in the toe box area. Throughout this season, James has been wearing the LeBron X, which is a much better fit.
The Nike LeBron 11 game kicks are differ from the retail pairs; James uses custom orthotic insoles. Still, its mind boggling that he's experiencing all this discomfort mid-season; considering he is deeply involved in the design process. LeBron spoke out;
"I just want to be able to wear them," James told ESPN.com. "It has been a frustrating process. But obviously, I know that Nike wants to do what's best. They're not going to put me out there in harm's way. So we're redefining the shoe to fit what's best for my foot."
Despite LeBron's frustration, the sales department isn't feeling any discomfort. Sales are actually up 18% compared to sales from LeBron X at this point last season. AKA- the sneaker are selling themselves; the fans aren't concerned with whether LeBron rocks them or not.
The last time the Nike Brand had an issue with one of it's athletes feeling discomfort was in 2009. That's when Dwyane Wade stopped wearing his Converse signature sneakers because he couldn't get used to the fit. As we know, Wade left the Nike partner and has since been with Li-Ning. We hope LeBron does not goes this route, because the shoes are dopes, but it is something to monitor as the season rolls on.
